California (Times Of Ocean)- Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, announced “significant improvements” were coming to Twitter after Parag Agrawal, the company’s chief executive, announced they are adding Musk to their board of directors despite his status as the organization’s largest shareholder.
In a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, Musk revealed that he was Twitter’s largest shareholder after he acquired a 9.2 percent stake.
Twitter’s stock soared 27 percent after Musk’s announcement due to investors’ expectation of Musk’s future involvement with the company. Over the past couple of years, Facebook has faced pushback over its blatant censorship of conservative voices and Covid-19 content.
Musk has been a constant critic of the platform’s violation of free speech principles, leading to expectance that he will address the issue now that he is the company’s largest shareholder.
Musk was warmly welcomed by Twitter’s CEO.
On Tuesday, Agrawal tweeted, “I am excited to share that @elonmusk has joined our board of directors.” Following discussions with Musk, it became clear to us that he would be an asset to the board.
I’m excited to share that we’re appointing @elonmusk to our board! Through conversations with Elon in recent weeks, it became clear to us that he would bring great value to our Board.

Jack Dorsey, a former Twitter CEO, released a public statement on Twitter’s new partnership with Musk, saying, “I’m delighted Elon is joining the Twitter board!”. Parag and Elon both lead with their hearts, and they will be an incredible team.” He added, “Parag and Elon care deeply about our world and how Twitter contributes to it.”
Musk responded to Agrawal’s announcement that he would be joining the Twitter board, saying, “I am looking forward to working with Parag and the Twitter board to make significant improvements to Twitter in the coming months!”.”
Despite Musk’s failure to announce what improvements Twitter will be implementing in the coming months, social media users are hopeful that this could mean the end of conservative censorship on Twitter.
Users have already begun calling on Musk to reinstate the 45th president’s official Twitter account.
Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., tweeted, “Now that @ElonMusk is Twitter’s largest shareholder, it’s time to lift the political censorship. Oh… and BRING BACK TRUMP!”
The former US President Donald Trump has previously expressed his admiration and support for Musk. Trump said, “Elon Musk is a guy I respect and like.” at a rally in South Carolina.
Although President Trump has not explicitly requested to rejoin Twitter, it would be a strategic advantage for his reelection campaign if Musk were able to convince the company to reinstate him.
