Ankara (The Times Groupe)- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres spoke over the phone on Monday and discussed ways to resolve the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
Erdogan told Antonio Guterres that Turkey maintains joint efforts to ensure Ukrainian grains are exported via Black Sea, which would “avert a global food crisis.”
Thousands of tons of Ukrainian grains remain locked in due to the military conflict, causing global shortages and price increases. Food shortages are attributed to Western sanctions, according to Russia, which has been accused of using food as a weapon.
Through diplomacy, Erdogan continues to urge his counterparts to revive peace negotiations and end the war.
