Kyiv (Times Of Ocean)- The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Thursday that more than 2,000 children have been taken since Ukraine’s war with Russia began.

‘We do not know the whereabouts of our children,’ Volodymyr Zelenskyy told members of European Council.

“We do not know the whereabouts of our children,” said Zelenskyy, speaking at the European Council summit, which he attended virtually.

Moreover, Zeleniskyy claimed that Russian forces fired on humanitarian aid convoys and targeted women and children in evacuation corridors.

Ukrainian Deputy PM Iryna Vereshchuk said on Thursday that more than 3,300 people were evacuated from the regions of Kyiv, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia.

She said that Ukrainians were unable to evacuate people living in Mariupol and dozens of busses loaded with humanitarian aid were unable to enter the besieged city.

Ukraine’s war with Russia, which began on Feb. 24, has been met with international condemnation, with the EU, US, and UK, among others, imposing harsh financial sanctions on Moscow.

According to UN estimates, at least 1,035 civilians have been killed and 1,650 injured in Ukraine, but the actual number is likely to be far higher.

UNHCR reports that 3.67 million Ukrainians have also fled to neighboring countries, while millions more have been internally displaced.
