Moscow (Times Of Ocean)- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said peace talks with Ukraine will continue and that a “real” danger of World War III exists.
Sergey Lavrov says Western weapons sent to Ukraine will be a legitimate target for Russia’s military.
“The danger is real, it cannot be underestimated,” Lavrov told Interfax news agency.
Kyiv’s approach also came under criticism, adding that “good will has its limits,” he also said. However, if it is not reciprocal, that doesn’t help the negotiation process.”
Russia opposes the threat of nuclear war despite high risks at present and wants to reduce any chances of artificially escalating those dangers, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in a late-night television interview.
“This is our key position on which all of our actions are based. The risks are considerable,” Lavrov told Russia’s state television, according to a transcript available on the ministry’s website.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba criticised Russia for warning of a “real” danger of World War III, saying Lavrov’s comments revealed that “Moscow senses defeat”.
“Russia has exhausted its chances to scare the world away from supporting Ukraine. Thus the talk of a ‘real’ threat of WWI,” Kuleba wrote on Twitter.
