Kyiv (Times Of Ocean)- The Ukrainian General Staff announced Wednesday that the Russian army was still withdrawing from Kyiv and Chernihiv.
In a Facebook post, the General Staff analyzed the 34th day of the Russia-Ukraine war. According to the statement, the Russian army was unable to besiege Kyiv and will probably concentrate its forces to the east of the country.
The Russian army continued to carry out air and missile attacks against the settlements of Kreminna and Mariupol, according to the report. The Ukrainian Defense Forces were also targeted by artillery near the settlements of Stepnogorsk, Orikhiv, and Hulyaipole, according to the report.
The Russian army was said to have focused on capturing Popasna and Rubizhne settlements in the Luhansk region and Mariupol.
In response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which began on Feb 24, the EU, US, UK, among others, have imposed economic sanctions on Moscow.
Companies around the world have also stopped doing business in Russia.
The UN estimates that at least 1,179 civilians have been killed in Ukraine and 1,860 injured, although the real number is likely to be much higher.
UNHCR estimates that at least 3.9 million Ukrainians have fled to several European countries, with millions more displaced within the country.
