Kyiv (Times Of Ocean)- Ukrainian emergency services report a rocket attack on a shopping mall. Russian artillery shells hit a shopping mall in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv on Monday, killing at least eight people.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine had announced earlier that the Russian attack on the mall had killed four people and injured one.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Russian armed forces launched a rocket attack on the Podilskyi district of the capital on Sunday evening, using means of warfare forbidden by international law.
Preliminary data indicates that the shopping mall was destroyed by shelling and fire, and at least eight people died as a result.
Rescue teams and law enforcement officers are working on the scene, according to the office.
Since Russia launched its war on its western neighbor on Feb. 24, at least 902 civilians have been killed and 1,459 injured in Ukraine.
According to the UN, the actual numbers are likely to be much higher as conditions on the ground make verification difficult.
According to the United Nations, more than 3.38 million refugees have fled Ukraine since the war began, while some 6.5 million are believed to be internally displaced.
