Europe (Times of Ocean)- Since late February, when Russia started a war with its neighbor, more than 2.3 million people have fled to neighboring countries.

The UNHCR stated on its website that the escalation of conflict in Ukraine has caused damage to civilian infrastructure and caused civilian casualties, forcing people to flee their homes in search of safety, protection, and assistance.

“As the situation progresses, it is estimated that 4 million people may flee Ukraine,” the report said.

More than 1.4 million Ukrainians who fled the country have ended up in Poland, with 214,000 entering Hungary, over 165,000 in Slovakia, 84,000 in Romania, and more than 82,000 in Moldova.

There are more than 260,000 refugees in other unnamed European countries.

97,000 people fled to Russia between Feb. 18 and Feb. 23 from the breakaway Donetsk and Luhansk regions, according to the UN refugee agency.

It was before the Russian invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24.

As a result of the war in Ukraine, almost 100 third-country nationals from Tunisia, Ghana, and Lebanon returned safely to their countries of origin.

77 Tunisians were forced to flee to Romania and Poland, three Lebanese moved to Romania, and 17 Ghanaians studied in Romania.
